Legal Awareness of women's rights for men as for women

Within the efforts of Aisha association for women and child protection, to provide legal awareness of women's rights and in order to the necessity of society's awareness in general, team of legal aid in Aisha association for women and child protection conducted 3 consecutive workshops among mayors and reform men, where the workshops have conducted in Diwan Al-Seyam in the Zeitoun area in the east of Gaza City. Team of legal aid in Aisha association undertook to start this step heading to the Diwan Al-Seyam in coordination with one mayors of the region, to conduct awareness sessions about women's legal rights and items of personal status law where these items included topics such as, marriage, engagement and concept of Special conditions in the marriage contract turning to divorce and what followed of marital expenses and custody of children.

The lawyer of the project has emphasized that we are in a Patriarchal society, in which women can't get or claim for their rights without the approval of men to give these rights, either arrogance or hanging on community's customs and traditions which abused woman more than justice her, or weakness and lack of activation of many laws that protect women and enable them to access to justice, from here came the necessity of providing legal awareness for men besides to the women so that both parties who represent half of society know their legal rights and responsibilities equally .Based on the request of a lot of target groups of women and men of vulnerable groups and women's rights advocates on the need to understand the man for women's rights and their role of the community..

On the other hand, through the interaction of the target group within the sessions, the project coordinator Mariam Abu Al-Atta has emphasized that there is a diversity in the acceptance of men to women's rights issues, so you can see some of them showing rapid response and convinced, and surprising for details and information was not perceived in advance ... and other who swinging his mind between acceptance and rejection about what stated in the session of information that may not agree with what he raised from the customs and traditions in a patriarchal society .. Also you can see who remains stable his rooted opinion that make you firmly believes that you need for thousands of years until a real social change occurs to justice women and gives them their legal rights and can access to justice. This diversity acceptable and convincing as long as there is a significant change and as long as we realize that change attitudes and ways of thinking are the most complicated changes and the longest time in the communities, which is why we continue in our efforts for change and access to justice.

The proof of the success and effectiveness of this approach, new and old at the same time, to the team towards the legal awareness of women's rights among men, was the presence of more than fifty men, including children, ranged in age from 11-16 years, where the number of attendees increased gradually with every day. In addition to their interaction with information and inquiries that have been asked and answered during the sessions that served as the integrated course in personal status law.
